We live in amazing times. The best and brightest among us now occupy the White House and positions of power across the United States government. At least that’s what we’re told by our balanced and unbiased mainstream media. We need to trust President Obama and those he has ordained to steer a course through these difficult days. One problem I have with this encouragement from the media is that their record of emphasizing things that truly are in our best interests as Christians is abysmal to say the least. A second concern is their love affair with what can only be described as an increasingly narcissistic President. The “One” must be followed without question. Recently I ran across two YouTube videos ( http://news4themasses.wordpress.com/) where several of the moral giants of Hollyleft declared allegiance to . . . President Obama and then several people are seen to be praying to the “One.” Frightening doesn’t even begin to describe this seemingly hypnotic state many have succumbed to.
An example of the moral bankrupcy of those with the microphone today is Whoopi Goldberg’s recent declaration that there are now two contexts for rape. There is simple rape which apparently isn’t quite as bad as “rape-rape.” This of course was offered as wisdom for the masses within the context of the Roman Polanski arrest. Isn’t it strange that Hollyleft can become energized around defending a child rapist but won’t even pretend to care about the murder of innocent children in the grisly abortion mills run by Planned Parenthood? For the unbelievers among us, compassion is evidently a selective thing at best.
While the unbelieving world looks at Christians as foolish, the Bible says that God is well pleased to save people through the foolishness of the cross (1 Corinthians 1:23). The gospel message of salvation through Christ alone is not an attractive message to unbelievers. It is nevertheless the manner in which God has declared He will save people. We do not have the freedom to change the message to make it more appealing to unbelievers. This is the error of the seeker-senistive, purpose-driven, blap-it-grab-it crowds. God will one day destroy this wisdom of men (1 Corinthians 1:19).
